FROSTGRAVE: Fantasy Wargaming in the Frozen City

Hello All,

I have recently discovers Osprey publishing’s FROSTGRAVE; Fantasy War gaming in the Frozen City. It is kind of like Mordheim: City of the Damned in that you play War bands scavenging a ruined city. The primary difference in Frostgrave  is the focus on wizards. Your main character is your wizard (Always.) To keep it interesting there are 10 different kinds of Wizard to choose from. You can also have an apprentice who gains power as you wizard does. Everyone else is hired muscle.

I am not going to go into a lot of detail about the game or it’s mechanics (Both are interesting but already covered is several other reviews) but I will say I am excited about it. I did put together a list of some of the reviews I found helpful.

I have decided to build a Frostgrave “Play set” much like the Goblin Town set or the Eldar Craftworld table I built for the 2015 NOVA Open. For the table I purchased an Alpine Fat Mat as the first layer.

I have also scavenged my  terrain collection and am in the process of repurposing some of my old terrain for use on the table. For the rest I have assembled several kits that have been in storage for the last year or so including the Witchfate Tor Wizard tower that is perfect for one of the scenarios.

This will work with several of the scenarios

I also made these cool treasure tokens:

Khorne Fed Beef!

Hello All,

I took an extended break after the Nova Open but I am back. This is just a quick update to show a project I recently finished. I found this toy Minotaur on Amazon and thought it would make a cool beastmen Giant.

Stock Photo (He does not look this cool in real life)

His clothing style is more Greek than Old world so I had to "Chaos" him up a bit.

Chaos stuff added from my bits box
Then it was time to start painting.

Primed Red Brown and dusted with Khaki to make picking out details easier.
Using basic techniques (no mind blowing discoveries here) I painted the model to match the primary theme of my Beastmen army (Khorne) I think it came out pretty good for a repaint.

Don't call him a bull...

The base is my own design

Horns are a replacement as well (see original above)

"look at my face! Do I look like I care?!"

I think he will make a wonderful addition to my beastmen army.

Till next time
