The Great Train (Copy from Road to NOVA)

Hello All,

We are only days away from NOVA 2014 and this will probably be my last post till the event is underway. I wanted to share one last project with everyone before the big day. Back on the 14th I posted this. At the bottom was a massive train made by Bandua Wargames.

Well I have been working at it for the last week or so and between building and painting it has taken over 50 hours to complete. But it is done! And I am going to give you a first look.

Before I show the pictures I will share the colors I used to paint this monster of a kit.

Colors used

Undercoat
Base Coat: Martha Stewart Espresso Wood Stain (Air Brush)
Highlight: Minitaire Base Grey (Air Brush)

Blue-
Base: Spectra Brilliant Blue (Air Brush)
Highlight: Model Air French Blue (Air Brush)
2nd Highlight: Model Air French Blue mixed with GW Temple Guard Blue (Air Brush)

Blue on control panel-
Base: GW Enchanted Blue
Highlight: Temple Guard Blue
Details: P3 Frostbite

Red-
Base GW Mephiston red
Highlight: GW Mephiston red mixed with Old GW Blood red
2nd Highlight: Blood Red

Green on control panel-
Base:  GW snot green
Highlight: GW Scorpion Green

Yellow-
Base: GW Averland sunset
Highlight: Averland sunset mixed with GW bad moon yellow
2nd Highlight: GW bad moon yellow

Orange-
Base: GW Averland sunset
2nd coat: Ral Partha Orange (Old school)

Other-
White: 2 layers of Ceramite White
Black: P3 Thamar Black
Silver metal: Lead Belcher over Black
Yellow metal: Balthasar Gold

No Mind blowing Techniques were used. Nothing more than simple layering and some basic airbrush work.  I have found over the years that the larger the model the less you need to rely on paint to create shadows and special effects. Bigger models just  make their own. That's why Movie models are so big..

Anyway Here we go...

Day 1 Undercoat

Day 2 Base Coat

Day 3 Blue Highlights

Days 4 - 6 Lots of details

Day 7 Final touches

Well that's that. Look for it at the event I think it will be part of the narrative ...

Till next time

Attack Wing Month 2 Wolf 359

Hello All,

This past Sunday I ran Month 2 of the 3 month Borg Event at Comics and Games Fairfax. The event went well. I had 6 players and everyone had a good time. Month three is just around the corner (September 14th) So if you are interested let me know!

Table 1 featured the Wife's New battle mat (You forget the moon is there after a while.)

Table 2 featured My new Battle Mat (Will work for X Wing as well)

Table 3 was made from 2 smaller boards I made the night before. (I did not know I was going to get that much table space)

To see what the mission was about click here.

As I said it was FUN!

Star Trek Attack Wing – The Collective Storyline Month two- Wolf 359 (Comics and Games Fairfax)

Star Trek Attack Wing – The Collective Storyline Month two- Wolf 359

“A Borg Cube has entered into the Wolf 359 System on its way to Sector 001. You have gathered an allied fleet to battle the Borg and to stop their advance into the heart of Federation space. This will not be an easy task. The Borg are unlike any foes you’ve encountered before.

Normally, the Borg would take the time to assimilate their prey, but with a fleet of ships bent on the Cube’s destruction, the Borg decide to simply destroy the ships at Wolf 359 and continue on to their primary target: Earth.

Your fleet quickly learns that it is indeed a futile gesture to attack, as the Borg Cube is dispatching your starships with ease. Your weapons are just not strong enough to do any real damage to the Borg Cube. But as part of the allied fleet, it is your task to do all you can to stop the Borg’s relentless progress. Can you defeat a seemingly unbeatable foe? Will your fleet survive the massacre at Wolf 359?”
