Xaebos The Doom Wind of the North 2

Xaebos
The Doom Wind of the North
Rigid Structure and Airbags

This is the next installment of the Xaebos build saga. In this segment I will be discussing the Rigid Structure and Airbags of Xaebos the Daemon Zeppelin. After looking at the scale of rigid air ships to the Gondola beneath them; The Rigid Structure and Airbags tend to be considerably larger than the Gondola. I decided to go a different route. I figure that since Xaebos is a Chaos infused machine it could conceivably be lighter than it should. Because of this I wanted to use a smaller bag. After doing some sketches I decided that it needed more. I decided to go with 3 separate rigid structures connected some how in a triangle formation.

The actual structures are made from two top halves of water bottles glued together then covered with glue soaked paper towels.

To link the Structures I decided to use building struts I found at a local hobby shop.

For the painting I decided to go with an enchanted blue to show allegiance to the lord of Change.

I added the green stripe to give it depth.

A friend suggested that I go with a 2 top 1 bottom design with the Gondola suspended beneath the lower structure.

The Skaven Project Part 5

Weapon Team Update

The two weapon teams I scratch built are finally painted. The Warp Grinder was inspired by my wife who said the model looked like a road crew more than a weapon team. In essence that is what they are. If you check them out in the book the crew don't even fight. They just use the grinder to inflict damage on an opponent. My favorite part is the "Skaven at work" sigh complete with the orange caution triangle.

The Poison Morter is based on the idea that Skaven weapons are unpredictable. As you can see the loader is not sure of the outcome and has decided to dive out of the way when his partner fires the gun. This may be for the best since I don't think the Morter is supposed to flame out of both ends!

Enjoy...

The Skaven Project Part 4.1 (update)

Hello all,

This is a Rat Ogre I put together from the Plague Furnace/Screaming Bell Kit. He is going to be part of an 18 Rat Ogre Unit that A fellow gamer at my local store is building for an up coming event.

The Enormous Plague Censor from the kit is used as a massive ball and chain. Check it out..

Xaebos The Doom Wind of the North

Xaebos
The Doom Wind of the North
Part 1

This is a project I agreed to do for my local GW store. If all goes well it will be used in a major battle set for September. (Fingers crossed) Below is a basic concept drawing I did with MS paint the other day at work. The Name is a variation of Zaebos. It will be used as part or a Warriors of Chaos army. A Daemonic creation of the Chaos Dwarfs much like the hell cannon. in fact the maw of the main body is a hell cannon like device. The turret under-mounted will use the Earth shaker rues from the 6th ed Chaos Dwarf PDF.

This is the original sketch done by a friend of mine during a concept meeting. The picture above is closer to the final concept.

No worries The Skaven Project continues...

The Skaven Project part 4

The Doomwheel

I this installment of the Skaven Project I am taking a break from weapon teams to show off the new Doomwheel. This contraption was a blast to put together and paint. I actually finished this one last December, but since I was taking pictures anyway...

This thing screams to be seen on the table. The first time my son used it he forgot the rule about shooting and the closest unit. Fortunately when he realized what was about to happen a non Skaven unit was the closest.

This may be the best value in the entire army.

The Skaven Project Part 3

Hello again,

For the third installment of this series I am continuing with weapon teams. This time around I am looking at the most feared (and rightly so) of weapon teams The warplock Jezzails!!! These guys are a center point for my sons army so I felt they needed to be done reasonably early in this project.
Yesterday I finished the last one making a group of 10. I feel like these guys took a hit with the newest Skaven book but they are still viable and deadly! so without further chittering I give you-

Jezzails!!!

One of the models I have was picked up at a recent Bazaar Bazaar. He is made from Plague monks and is holding a scroll. I decided to make it into a wanted poster for the notorious Skaven sharpshooter "Rodent Hood" who steals for the rich and bullies the poor.

Please let me know what anyone thinks about the Skaven army so far...

Thanks

R.G.H
