March Madness in the form of buildings!!!!

Hello all,

This past Saturday we had the first build session for March! For those that were there FANTASTIC JOB!!!! You folks went above and beyond expectation. We had a goal of 50 buildings for the day - constructed and ready for texture we managed to do 51. That in itself was huge but wait there's more.....

We also knocked out the remaining 30 hills for a grand total of 81 pieces of terrain ready for texture and paint! WAY TO GO TEAM!

Our people really showed their artistic talents on Saturday as they did not let a little thing like a deadline stop them from producing scenery that would make the folks at warhammer world Green with envy.

These 5 members of team 1 worked hard and knocked out well over their quota of foam-board ruins

This is just a (very) small sample of what was built on Saturday! Wait till you see what we do to them next!

The Artists from team 2 are seen here showing why they earn the big bucks! (or would if we paid them!)

Just take a look at some the pieces that will be in use at the 2012 NOVA. I for one cannot wait to see them finished.

Not all of the work completed Saturday was of the building kind. someone had to make the really cool bases that all of our NOVA terrain will sit on. It's a thankless job but someone has to do it. This time around that someone was Frank. A special thanks to you buddy!

Man that is a lot of Sawdust! good thing my suggestion to do the sanding in the living room got vetoed!

Night of the count...

Hello all,

As you may have already seen on the Whiskey 40K blog some of us spent the day after Valentines day at the storage locker counting up all of the terrain for the 40K Gt at NOVA 2012.

Here is a recap of what is still needed:

44 pieces of "scatter" terrain
30 hills
85 los blocking ruins/equivalent
118 partially-los blocking ruins/equivalent

Or, 277 pieces of terrain

This is not an unobtainable number! It just means a lot more work is needed in the coming months. So if you are reading this and want to lend a hand please let us know. We could always use more help. As our CFO says "Many hands make the work easier."

This can best be seen with the Table Felting Project!

Molds , Castings, and Monuments... Oh My!

Well here we are with building session 4 come and gone. In this last session we covered three major undertakings.

The first is the mold making for our ongoing projects. We are making molds for a project that will be fully revealed soon. till then here are some teasers...

The second is the casting project. Using a series of molds created by our staff and many of the fantastic molds from Hirst Arts we are attempting to cast tons of extra bits to be added to our buildings and scatter terrain. Check out these shots of castings already in progress as well as some of the newest scatter pieces made with some the cast parts. By the way we are using an really fantastic product called Merlin's Magic. you should check it out.

Lastly we began the Monuments project in Ernest. As you can see the Washington Monument project is under way but there is still much to be done!

Sceen here is part of our staff hard at work on the second project "The national Air and Space Museum." Wait till you see it.

New Lord of the Rings Books!

Hello All,

I picked up all 5 of the new LOTR-SBG books over the weekend. I an really liking the stream lining the new build system brings to the game. At the beginning of each book is a section that show how forces are now put together. It adds structure where there was very little before. The funny thing is that you can still build pretty much anything you want. Even better the allies rules have been simplified to an easy to use Good Guys vs. Bad guys structure. no more of the old systems flow chart (I made Flow charts) style where some forces could not ally with certain others just because their forces had no interaction in the movies or books. About the only thing that went away in the new system is the ability to have tons of troops with a single "captain" leading them. That is fine with me as the game is SPECIFICALLY designed for heroic play!

As I was looking through my computer this morning I came across these pictures from a LOTR tournament I attended a few years ago. Considering the subject of the post it seemed like a lucky find. Please enjoy (BTW: Mine are the forces of Rohan/Gondor)

Hello all,

The month of January (When not working on NOVA projects) was dedicated to Monsters! I have a ton of them and mostly leave them on the shelf as they take a while to paint and I have several Army Projects going all the time. Well I decided it was time to change that. I managed to get 12 beasts and Monsters painted up in 31 days.

The Road to the NOVA 2012 Part 5

BUILD SESSION 3

Well We did it!- 3 sessions in January.

The third installment for the NOVA terrain project went off well despite the cold weather and Ice. We had a pretty good turnout of around 7 people. We even had two folks show up before Mike or I arrived!

Much was accomplished and we learned several valuable lessons. for example: Painting in really cold weather is a bad idea. This happened when we decided to texture paint some of the projects from last week. The projects are OK they just took forever to dry.

With texture paint unavailable we moved to good old household Spackle to give the buildings a "stucco" like appearance. This worked out well as you can see below.

Once everything from last week was prepped for painting we tackled some new projects. The team decided to forgo painting until the weather warms up and instead concentrate on building as much as we can in January and February.

We only had one working foam cutter as the other seems to have died. Even that did not stop our group of diehard volunteers who managed to build even more scatter terrain than they did the week before.

(The pink pieces above were from week two but you get the idea!)

On the building front we managed to get somewhere around 12 more buildings ready for texture!

At the Sunday Staff meeting our illustrious leader Mr. Brandt stated that we have managed to get somewhere around 80 pieces of terrain built in just three Saturdays along with the 80+ tables prepped this is a hell of a start for 2012!

Buildings and scatter- Here we go!!!!

Good Morning all,

Saturday was build session 2 for the NOVA 2012. I am happy to report that it was a roaring success. We had around 8 to 10 folks show up. We started the day finishing up the last tables (18 I think) then went straight to work on the terrain.

BTW- Everyone signed the last table and those who were at session 1 but not 2 had their names added by the staff. Just giving credit where credit is due. :)

We broke the group up into 3 teams.

Team 1- Buildings
Team 2- scatter terrain
Team 3- MDA board bases

Using my favorite building material (foam board) team 1 was able to construct 13 buildings from concept to constructed. Not bad since they only had around 4 hours to work on it.

Team 2 used the hobbyist's best friends, pink foam and and (2) hot wire knives, to make a staggering 22 pieces of scatter terrain. This was the team I was lucky enough to be on. I will say that close proximity to wire knives can get you light headed even with good ventilation. so be careful. :)

Team 3- had the most unrewarding job of the three and will get first choice next time for jobs! These guys cut and shaped over 80 12X12 MDA boards for bases. Then the rounded the edges with sand paper. They did this out in the cold while the rest of us were warm inside.

I salute you team three.

in all over 80 boards were prepped and 35 pieces of terrain are ready for sand and paint. Not to mention the 18 tables that were completed.

Hello All,

Happy New year to all. Today marked the first of the NOVA open build sessions. These sessions are intended to get us ready for NOVA 2012 only 8 short months away. in this session we felted tables. LOTS of tables! I did not get a complete count but by the estimates provided we completed 36 6X4 Tables and 35 4X4 tables

With a new year comes new faces and this year has been no exception. Several new volunteers showed up and were quickly put to work. There was some grumbling about labor laws and stuff but Mr. Brandt could not be moved. In all seriousness these new guys hit the ground running and did not stop till the work was done!

Tables Tables and more tables- We needed someplace to put all those Buildings and hills!

That is not to say that NOVA veterans did not do their share. Quite the contrary, as Several members of the famous 2011 team made appearances or at least made their presence felt.

I want to wish everyone a happy new year and give a little update on what has gotten done at the end of 2011.

On thee hobby front I have amassed 611 point on my point tracking system (A modified system based on the one Lone Pilgrim came up with a few years ago.)

The Jabberslythe- Model Review

Hello All,

RGH her with a quick review of one GW's newest models the Jabberslythe. The beastmen are finally getting some love this month with the release of two new kits. The plastic Ghorgon/Cygor and the Finecast Jabberslythe. I decided that the Jabber was the way to go since it seemed that Finecast monsters were pretty good (at least better than the infantry sized models) since I had such good luck with the Cockatrice over the summer. Boy was I wrong. :(

Although the finished model looks pretty sweet the build took three evenings to complete as I had to wait for the green stuff to cure before I could move on. The main problem I had was that the peices did not fit properly together. They were close and they did fit after a fassion but they always left gaps. sometimes BIG gaps that had to be puttied and cured before anything else could be done.

and I now own stock in greenstuff!

This model reminded me of the old GW metal models from the 90's that honed many of us "old timer's" to our sculpting skill levels. The days where quarter inch gaps were not unheard of. The only saving grace was that since it was resin I did no thav to pit it as well...

Terrain Supplies list- Expanded

Hello all,

I have compiled a list of the most common Items the NOVA terrain build team will need to complete our projects by “Showtime” 2012. I have included what I think are best places to find these items as well as the most common uses, pros, and cons for them. Please feel free to add any ideas for materials or products that might help.

Glue – Craft Store (Michael’s or A.C Moore)

a. Elmer’s All Purpose Glue (Elmers Wood Glue share most of the same properties except it is also great for wood projects.)

Advantage: can be found almost anywhere
Great for gluing sand or flock to a base or terrain piece.
Dries a little slow
No good for adhering materials like plastic, metal, or plaster.

b. Aleene’s Tacky Glue

Easy to find at craft stores and chain stores like Wal-Martii. Dries quicker than Elmer’s
Fantastic for plaster (Molded Bricks and rocks)
Works well for adhering scenery to bases

c. Aleen’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue

Dries clear (but glossy)
Slow Dry time
Most of the same properties as regular Aleen’s

d. Hot Glue – Requires Hot glue Gun

Stupid fast drying (cooling) time
Good for the “Quick Fix”
Good for adhering scenery to bases
Tends to be messy (Glue strings)
Can be adjusted with applied heat

Glue – Hobby Store- (Games Workshop, Hobby Works, Game Parlor)
a. Super glue- Bob Industries, Games Workshop, and many others

Great for a "Quick Fix”
Fast dry time
OK for plastic scenery
Good for Metal to plastic adhesion
Can be messy (fingers sticking to scenery or fingers sticking together)
Best for resin models and scenery
Krazy Glue and cheap superglues should be avoided

b. Plastic Glue- Games Workshop, Bob Industries, and many others

Best for plastic kits
Not good for much else
Medium set time but strong adhesion once dry

Foam Board- Craft Store (Michael’s or A.C Moore)

Best for scenery (hardest to find around here)
Great for 40K Buildings
Great for Fantasy houses
Will work as a base but may warp over time.

b. White

Most common type (Can be found at craft stores and also places like Wal-Mart, some drug stores, and grocery stores)

c. Black on one side white on the other

A Hybrid of the above (I have only ever found them at Michael’s)
Great for 40K Buildings

Cuts with a hot wire foam knife

The Road to the NOVA 2012 Part 1

Hello all,

It has been a while since an update and a bit has happened. First off I am now the "Minister of terrain" for the NOVA 2012.

Not sure what the NOVA is? Look here and here!!!

What this means is that I am responsible for making sure the terrain at the NOVA is good to go for all systems running at the NOVA.

This means a LOT of work.

The NOVA staff and I (Along with an army of volunteers) will be having terrain building sessions starting in January.

This mission will have 2 parts-
1. Pimp my terrain: Taking existing terrain and putting a shine on it
2. New stuff: building new terrain for 40K, Fantasy, Warmachine/Hordes, Infinity, and Flames of War.

Here are some pictures of the example pieces I acquired. These are from the NOVA 2011.

Death From Terry Pratchett's Disk World Novels

Hello All,

RGH here with the hobby update I have been promising for some time.
What have I been up to since the NOVA? Quite a lot really. So without further BS from me lets get started...

Chaos Marauders- I pulled these guys out at random just because I wanted to paint some Chaos one day. The one in the robes is from Mordheim.

Zombies- These guys are from "Wargames Factory" MODERN ZOMBIES!!! I really like not having to use Fantasy Zombies for everything. I like the Guy in the suit and tie and the doctors in their scrubs. You get 24 Zombies for 15.99 at the War Store. I am thinking of using them as Summoned Demons for my Chaos Marines.

Siege Equipment- This is the old 5th edition Siege defense set for Fantasy. All Metal all the time... I decided to assemble and paint them because I am trying to consolidate or reduce my unfinished model collection. I think they look good for their age. :)

Grey Knights- My Grey Knight Army is coming along. As you can see I am focusing on Inquisitor squads at this time. The theme colors are red and purple. My goal is to make them look like gangs of adventurers from dark Heresy. I also did a miner conversion on the Black Templar Emperor's Champion converting him to a GK Brother Champion. What do you think?

Room Reorganization- I decided to reorganize my workspace to make it more efficient. So far so good. one of the innovations I decided on was to add incentive and motivation to my storage option. Notice how uncompleted models are stored with their respective army. This motivates me to get them out and work on them rather than have them forgotten in some closet.

Ralthozian Commission- I have finally finished the Fleet commission for Warboss. These are for use with Firestorm Armada and Full thrust. 18 ships in total.

Lord of the Ring deal of the year- at the end of September I happened upon a website called (Hull's Angles) it is run by a man named Ross. He is selling bunches of his GW stuff to help with a brick and mortar store in England. I saw that amongst the 40K and Fantasy deals (most of which were stuff I already had) I noticed a box of LOTR figures with a cost of 50 pounds. No list was given for this but the box was full to the top and I noticed that some of the miniatures were good ones. I enquired about the box and was told that he could not remember what all was in it but it was a full "White Hand" army. I decided to bite and agreed to get it. (I almost didn't when I saw that the shipping cost was almost as high as the asking price.) But what the hell my curiosity was peeked and I went ahead and bought it. Much to my relief I did the right thing. The box weighed 7.5 pounds (thus the high shipping) and had over 380 miniatures in it. A lot of them needed a little love and attention after traveling so far but a few days later they were ready to go. The full list of items is listed below. In total it cost me around 150 US dollars but the cost to buy all this stuff retails for over 1400 US dollars.

Wood Elf Eternal Guard- Recently I repainted my wife's eternal guard unit to make them fit in better with the rest of the army. This unit helps represent winter in her "Army of all seasons."

A Battle With Death Salvo...

Good Morning,

RGH here after a short break (I was on vacation last week so took a break from posting as well)

Yesterday I got a chance to get a game in with one of my friends who goes by Death Salvo on my followers list. I brought my current current marine list (the one from the game with Mike Brandt) less the Land Raider Redeemer (Curse me for leaving it at home.) He brought a Demon list (in my mind there is no room for an "a" in Demon.)

Battle type: (Thanks to no land Raider) a 1750 annihilation mission.

The Game lasted three turns- at that point All I had left were two land speeders (In reserve) and a single thunderfire cannon. All I managed to kill was a single Demon Prince and 2 Screamers. I took a sound thrashing but managed to have a good time anyway...

The Battle reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from the movie Top Gun

Goose: Yeeha, Jester's dead!
Wolfman: Won this bullshit?
Goose: Didn't everybody?
Hollywood: Hell no, man. We got our butts kicked.
Wolfman: Thirty seconds. We went like this, he went like that. I said to Hollywood, "Where'd he go?" Hollywood says, "Where'd who go?"
Hollywood: Yeah, and he's laughing at us, right on the radio, he's laughing at us.

Of course Death Salvo did not laugh. He played the game like a Champion. I will be happy to play him again any time.

My favorite fight was when Cato Sicarius took on the Great Unclean one (G.U.O) in single combat (After the stern-guard were killed) they fought for several turns before the G.U.O defeated him.

The Space Marines fought bravely (Ld 10 and Stubborn) and died very quickly. As any servant of the Empire should...

This past Friday I got a chance to play Mike Brandt of in a game of 40K. I decided to field my Codex Space Marines. This is the first time I have used them in over a year and only the second game I have had in the same period of time. That said we decided to treat this as a learning game since I am WAAAAAY behind the curve with this system. Mike Brought his Imperial Guard army.

We were using the NOVA style table set up with a spear head deployment and using 5 (I think) objectives.

We rolled off and I won so chose to take second turn and did not attempt to steal initiative. Looking back I should have at least tried for 1st turn. here is the list Mike and I put together for me to use (as I said learning game.)

Mikes Army was a lot of Vet squads in chimeras (some in reserve) and 3 Vendettas- I think he said he had 17 Meltaguns.

Highlights

Well the School of hard Knocks started out with both Thunderfire cannon being destroyed in turn 1. Thus showing my Warhammer Fantasy background by deploying them on a hill in LOS of the Vendettas (Lesson learned)

In my turn I learned about target priority, board control, and order of shooting... All good lessons. I managed to immobilize one Vendetta (Then spent several turns trying to kill it), move my Rhinos out but turning them so to protect them from the Flankers Mike held in reserve, and I managed to keep my Vet squad in position so it could fire it's 2 missile launchers at any of several targets (They took out the Vendetta) all of this was decided after consultation with Mike about tactics. (man is he good)

My Land Raider got vaporized after I foolishly advanced it (Falling for the bait mike left for me.)
leaving me in a position where it was surrounded by 4 Chimeras and one of the Vendettas. the Guard got out and I faced a wall of melta and 3 twin linked Las cannon...

The tank blew up and I was forced to make a pin check. Ld 10 with "Stubborn" (Good Combo) but I rolled 12 and got pinned still surrounded by "no armor save" doom.

At this point it was getting late so I conceded the game and packed my stuff up. In all it was a good learning experience (And a lot of fun) but also a wake up call that I need to step up my game if I am to ever be a contender in this environment.

NOVA 2011 over and done... Till next year at least

Hi everyone,

I have finally recovered enough from the event to report on it. From Thursday - Sunday I put Approximately 60 hours of time Staffing at the Convention. A lot of it was hard work but completely rewarding. As one of the appearance judges I got to look at literally hundreds of Armies from the three color minimum to some true works of Art.

If I had to state my favorite aspect of the event it would be getting to meet so many really awesome people and hanging again with folks I have not seen since last year.

He is a really down to earth person and a pretty neat guy. I was able to get him to sign my copy of Codex: "Chaos Space Marines and "Angles of Darkness." Both with some really entertaining comments!

After the event he gave me signed copies of Crown of the Blood and The Crown of the Conqueror. THANKS GAV!

A Quick Rant- WD 379 P3

Hello,

I have now pretty much gone through the issue. I have to say that the consensus over the last few years (that WD has gotten worse and is nothing more than a glossy Sears catalog for WH/40K/LOTR players) has become more true than ever.

I tend to dislike issues where one game system is "Showcased" over the others to the point where the non topic articles have an afterthought feeling to them.

I am also annoyed that the trend is to do articles about the most recent armies (usually the last 2 or 3) only rarely do they venture into articles about older armies. It does happen but not often enough for my taste. I would prefer that articles covered a wider range of armies so that one could get a feel for how armies are doing as newer books and rule sets come out. (Just an opinion)

If anything WD has become the single best advertising tool for PP products. One look at a recent WD and you will be dieing to look at Warmahordes!

That being said it wouldn't be fair to not point out some things that the magazine did right (not meant as a joke)

1. The new rules for Tomb Banshees and Cairn Wraiths are pretty cool as both have been returned to their previous status as characters (see 6th ed VC book) keeping them separate from the Rare choice Wraiths and Banshees was a solid move. Good Job.

2. The Cavalry article for LOTR SBG. is part of that afterthought mentality but the information is good. Since I am a strong supporter of LOTR for GW (and think it's been dealt a poor hand by the Interwebs community) I would like to see more LOTR articles in future issues. (specifically for the SBG. I am not such a fan od War of the ring.

3. The Sisters of battle (P1) was interesting but having to wait another MONTH for the rest of it sucks! Since I have no idea how this will be costed I will not comment further.

In all it was a poor issue (I am already tired of storm of magic!) but with the addition of Official rules (coming back) and more editor comments in articles (I prefer the old issues where the "White Dwarf" comments on stuff.) The magazine may get better.

A Quick Rant- WD 379 P2

Hi,

Just a little more here... I have had a chance to page through the magazine (though not read most of it yet) my openions are based on first impressions!

Other than the usual first 15 pages of self stroking adds for the items of the month the rest of the issue seems to be focused on Vampire counts. That is all fine and good. I have a Vampire counts army and some new blood (pun intended) is always nice.

BUT...

WTF- More Giant Monsters! The new Zombie Dragon is on a Gigantic base. Waaaay bigger than the previous model. I am somewhat worried about the sizing of the newer monster kits as they are starting to hit a cartoon(ish) level that makes the game look even more juvenile than having Matt W. as a fluff writer.

They really are going to give EVERY army some sort of new giant monster kit even when it makes no sense to do so.

Essentially the new monsters are the "Mech" of the Fantasy game. In this case an imperial Chimera REALLY is a Chimera! The Monsters are filling the roll of "Tank" in fantasy and the new larger based monsters seem to support this idea.

The New stuff coming out for Ogre's next month look to be the "Land Raiders" for WHFB. next thing you know they will come out with monster carrying cases that can be used as a monster on the board and can store your mini's as well!

In conclusion of this segment I want to Quote from the movie Jurassic Part (Original) I thinkit sums up the situation. Please apply to GW designers...

Heavy Hitter competition 2011

Hello all,

Just a quick update of yesterdays exploits. My local GW store held a painting competition through the month of July that ended yesterday. The main rule of the competition was that the model chosen had to be purchased, assembled, and Painted in the month of July (This was to make it a level playing field for all contestants.)

I decided to enter. even though my schedule this summer has been brutal. For the last three weeks I have worked on my entry and Thursday night I declared it DONE! (Sanity would not let me go any farther)

Here is what I ended up with. I call it "Playing with your food"

I am especially please with the results of this model. I guess Perseverance and hard work does pay off. I say this because the other models in the event were fricking Awesome!!! I am sure they will be posted on The their Facebook Page

Just a Quick Post about the 40K game I had last Sunday.

I finally got to get a game in...

I tried out a 2K Ork list vs. a Codex Marine list Gratan brought over.

Over all it was a fun game even though both of us are a bit rusty (I am sure we did a few things wrong)

The Battle of Windle's Tower (Battle Report Part 3)

The Battle of Windle's Tower 3

(Note: Lakait is both the player code name and the name of the Wood Elf General while Rattling the Mad is The code name of the Skaven player and Warlord Scratcheye is the name of the Skaven General)

Turn 3

Turn three is where things started to really heat up between these two combatants

General Lakait

The Wood Elf Spellsinger Worked her magic on the General’s Eternal Guard unit Rolling a double 6 guaranteeing a successful casting but took a wound and lost a spell due to the fickle nature of magic in this edition.

Lakait- ‘It's important to note that both spells can be cast on units that are engaged in combat. I cast fear on the Noble's unit again. It didn't do any good, since the Storm vermin were able to pass their fear check. And I cast Ariel's Blessing on the general's unit. I got a critical success and lost this spell for the rest of the game. I'd taken a magic item that allowed me to re-roll on the miscast table, but I found that I would have preferred one that allowed me to ignore a single miscast. This is what I thought I was getting at first.'

The Large unit of Eternal Guard (Lead by the Army General) Charged the Unit of Skink Slaves and blew them off the table.

Lakait- ‘After having defeated the Hell Pit, I decided that I might as well engage the Slaves (I hate slaves) since they were the best target I had. I wanted to get into the backfield and attack his general's unit from behind. I was hoping to act as reinforcements for my Noble's unit. This opened up my general's unit to all kinds of missle weapon attacks from the Rattling Gun, the Mortar, the Jezzails, and the Warlock. My unit was ultimately wiped out by missle fire more than anything else. I did have to make a panic check at one point. However, since my Wood Elf Highborn made the unit stubborn, it was unmodified.’

The second Unit of Eternal Guard now weakened was attacked by the undamaged Storm Vermin Unit of Scratch Eye himself! The Fight went against the poor Elves who were all but wiped out. (The Elf Noble survived but was left to face the onslaught alone.)

The Glade Guard Managed to Rally with the intention of taking the tower back!

Warlord Scratcheye

Both Units of Slaves were pretty much gone at this point. The first unit continued to flee while the second (Skink) unit was wiped out. They did manage to inflict some minor damage to the eternal guard and left them in a vulnerable position for the next Skaven turn!

Lakait- ‘Yeah, but no one was assaulting it either. They were just twiddling their thumbs and ripping up my banner that added one to my move.’

The General’s Storm Vermin Unit killed the Wood Elf Noble

Lakait- ‘I tried to challenge the general, but he refused. All of that written elsewhere. So, yeah, I died’

Both The Warlock Engineer and the Jezzail team fired on the , now vulnerable Eternal Guard unit both scored a massive amount of hits but when the smoke cleared the unit still held!

Lakait- ‘So, Ariel's Blessing is the only reason that my general's unit managed to survive the rain of missile weapons that came forth to give them a shady spot to stand on the battlefield.’

The Ratling Gun moved to a better position for next turn.

Ratling the Mad- ‘It moved away from the Highborn’s unit to avoid being charged, I recall because next turn it couldn’t shoot because of the facing I put it in, my not paying attention to that because in the old rules it had a much wider arc of vision’

The Poison Wind Morter misfired and jammed for a turn thus no shots were fired.
Things were starting to look up for the Skaven!

Turn 4

Turn four was about position or reposition

General Lakait

The Spellsinger moved towards the glade guard to support their upcoming attempt to take back the tower.

The last Eternal Guard unit did a reform to get into position to charge the Storm Vermin. While doing this they took even more fire and it nearly cost the entire unit but they held against the odds.

The Glade Guard moved towards the tower and prepared to assault next turn.

Warlord Scratcheye

The Clanrats continued to hold the tower and prepared for the the onslaught of the displaced Wood Elves.

The General’s Storm Vermin also reformed to face the remains of the Eternal Guard.

The Jezzail team continued to fire at the Eternal Guard Unit killing several more.

The Ratling Gun did not fire as the angle of the attack was off to fire at the only in range target.

The Warlock Engineer attempted to Warp lightning the Eternal Guard unit again but this time it was dispelled.

Going into turn 5 it looked like the Skaven had it in the bag.

Turn 5

This ended up being the final turn. And here is why…

Charge declared by the remnants of the Eternal guard into the Scratcheye’s Storm vermin Unit. This unit of Eternal Guard used a Banner that made the unit cause Terror. Scratcheye declared a hold reaction. All Eyes were on this roll. The Dice came up 11! The Skaven were forced to flee. The distance was rolled and it came up 4” +1 “for Skaven and this equaled a 5 “flee. Unfortunately The Eternal guard were only 3 “away from the Skaven and rolled 10 on the Charge distance giving them 15” of movement allowing them to run down the terrified Storm Vermin.

Why did this end the game? Remember This was the Blood and Glory scenario and that Lakait started with 5 Banner points and Ratling the Mad had 4. Lakait lost 2 during the earlier in the game when her Glade Guard were defeated and fled the tower and another when the smaller unit of Eternal Guard was destroyed. This made it 4v3 (in Ratling’s favor) at the top of turn 5. When his general’s Unit was destroyed he lost 3 banner points immediately making it 1v3 (in Lakait’s favor) AND dropped the skaven army below the minimum 2 Banner points to stay in the game thus giving the victory to the Wood Elves!

Lakait- ‘It's important to note that this happened because Robby failed his terror check. That's the only reason I won here. I had three points in my general's unit and he had three points in his. This was the clash that would decide the game.’

Ratling the Mad had this to say in a later conversation:

‘I’d say my biggest mistake was not looking up what regeneration does, and just going on my obviously faulty recollection of how these things work (you try to save some time). Things went differently than I expected, the Hell Pit got thoroughly trounced, but both weapon teams and my Warlock Engineer actually survived. Apparently I was also wrong in some other assumptions that I made, like that her General was her spell caster (it wasn’t), and that My General’s unit (12 strong, modified Ld 7) could take 3 elves (Terror Causing Elves, Galadriel took the One Ring and came after me.) It’s hard to pick an MVP here, but I’ll have to go with my Poison Wind Mortar. It may have only gotten one good shot, but man was it effective.’

The Battle of Windle's Tower (Battle Report Part 2)

vs.

Turn 1

Turn 1 was almost (see below) purely a movement and position round for both armies.

General Lakait

The Wood Elf Spell singer spent the first turn in cover of the woods this central position made her a less desirable target and allowed her to cast spells at all three units in the army.

General Lakait said: “Standing on the edge of the woods, to provide soft cover and still be in range to cast on the Eternal Guard units. I cast the fear spell on the noble's unit and tried to put Ariel's Blessing on the general's unit. Recall, that he had a terror causing banner, so he didn't need the other spell.”

The larger Eternal Guard moved up to within an inch of the wall and waited for the Hellpit to charge. (Editor’s Note: Lakait did not want to lose a rank of spear attacks by charging the hellpit.)

The second unit of Eternal Guard moved into the gap between the walls.

The Glade Guard Made a Bee line for Windle’s tower moving to 1” away after a march move.

Warlord Scratcheye

The Jezzail team moved into the abandoned Watchtower.

While the Hellpit Abomination, The unit of Standard slaves, and the Storm Vermin moved forward for position. The Hellpit rolled a measly 5” and did not get to engage the Eternal guard unit it was trying to attack. The second unit of slaves (Skinks) ended up stuck behind the hellpit and Storm vermin so opted not to move. The unit of Clan Rats moved towards Windle’s tower.

Lakait- “(He) didn’t try for the tower because Scratcheye decided that I was closer and would get there first. I think this was a mistake because he wasted a turn where he could have assaulted the building.”

Ratling The Mad -“I want to say that I had a perfectly good reason internally for not going after the tower, that being that since it was placed slightly further toward her side and with it being very likely that she would take first turn, it didn’t seem likely that I would beat her there, so I prepared for an assault. “

The warlock Engineer hid behind the trees to watch the opening shots of the battle from relative safety

Lakait - “Tried to skitterleap, but I threw all my dice at dispelling it. He had no shots for his magic missile spell, so that ended magic.”

Ratling The Mad- “I also didn’t expect my magic to be so shut down, but I guess it was a mistake to position things so that in order to cast one spell, the other one HAD to go off.”

The Ratling gun moved for a better position so could not shoot that turn.

The only real action came from the poison wind mortar that fired an indirect poison globe that managed to shatter almost directly over the 2nd unit of Eternal guard destroying most of the unit.

Lakait had this to say regarding the mortar shot: “Direct hit. Deviation was absorbed. I was grinding my teeth...loudly. Still, it was a good move.”

Turn 2

General Lakait

The Spell singer Moved out of cover and tried to get into position to cast spells on the Lords Eternal Guard unit. She also took a potshot at the Hell pit but missed. (She was armed with a Magic arrow that causes a panic check if a single wound is caused)

Lakait- “Spell singer repeated her actions from turn one. I think I might have moved her around the board some. I tried to keep her behind other units and out of the line of fire, but I was careful to make sure that she could still see and cast onto the Eternal Guard.”
Lakait-“ The fear spell (I need to look up the name) worked, but Ariel's Blessing failed again.”
The Lord’s Eternal Guard Unit held their ground and did not move as they prepared for the inevitable charge of the Hellpit Abomination.

Lakait- “Eternal Guard did not charge anybody because I didn't want to lose my extra rank of fighting with the spears. This bit me in the butt with the Hell Pit because I took impact wounds from the hellpit.” See below…

The Hero’s unit of Eternal Guard also stood pat waiting to get charged so they could use their spears and high initiative to good use. (as well as the unit was in no shape to face the Storm Vermin or even slaves head on.)

The Glade guard made it into the tower and opened fire on the unit of slaves in front of the hero’s Eternal guard breaking them and forcing them to flee.

Lakait – in regards to the shooting of the slaves “it worked to my favor with the SLAVES (the Storm Vermin were behind them) because I hate slaves and I was able to shoot at them in the Shooting Phase.” This made it so the eternal guard would not face that block of slaves again.

General Scratcheye

The Skaven slaves that broke by shooting did not rally and continued to run away.
Likait- “Or you could say...The Glade Guard forced a panic check for the Slaves, by killing at least 25% of the unit. They ran directly away from the threat, but didn't get very far. As a result, they blocked the Hell Pit for a while, I believe. Though we might have moved them so that they were out of the way of both the Hell Pit and the general's unit. I'm not sure now. I know that they were at least 1 inch away from my general's unit. They quickly outpaced their general's area of influence and were never able to rally. They had no further impact on the game and need not be mentioned further.”

The Skink Slaves Moved slightly forward but were still behind the hellpit Abomination so could do nothing else.

The Skaven Clanrats charged the tower and were able to drive the Glade guard out!

Likait- “Rat b@stards”

The Storm Vermin charged the Hero’s Eternal Guard and managed to destroy the unit except for the valiant Noble who held his ground in bitter defiance!

The Hellpit managed to reach the Lords Eternal Guard and slammed into them with serious impact hits killing 3. The wood elf Attacks were fast and furious managing to get 6 wounds in the first round of Combat. The Hellpit failed all of its Regeneration saves and died!

Likait-”(Hellpit) killed three of 15 with impact hits. General got 5 attacks, Champion got 3 attacks, musician/standard bearer/guard in first row got 2 attacks each, 5 men in the second rank got 1 attack each, remaining 2 men in the last rank got 1 attack each. This resulted in 21 dice being thrown at the Hell Pit for attacks. Unlike when the Glade Guard fought the Clan Rats, I did not choke on my rolls and managed to do all 6 wounds before he ever laid a tentacle on me. Chant it with me now: Eternal Guard Rocks! Eternal Guard Rocks!”

Ratling the Mad- “If I had looked up what regeneration actually does, it might have lived, Just sayin”

The Jezzail team took shots at the Tree singer but did not manage to do any harm.

The Ratling Gun team shot at Tree singer but misfired and shot all shots at strength 2 and also did no damage.

The Poison wind mortar fired again but went off course causing no damage.

The Warlock Engineer moved into the woods and attempted to Skitterleap but was unsuccessful.

All in all this was a poor round for the Skaven.

The Battle of Windle's Tower (Battle Report Part 1)

Warlord Scratch Eye looked upon the abandoned tower near the Bretonnian border and squealed with Glee. His small war-band had surfaced 3 days earlier, and so far remained undetected. “This man house-cave will make a nice-nice place to plan my raid,” thought the warlord. A week earlier, the gray seer known as "Brain-Brain" had been blessed with a vision that foretold that a large chunk of Warpstone would be found on the border of the cursed Elfthing forest (Athel Loren) and the Manthing realm of Bretonnia. Warlord Scratch Eye was summoned by representatives of THE THIRTEEN to go forth and acquire this prize. As his forces approached the old tower, a horn sounded from a nearby wood, immediately followed by war cries as several dozen Wood Elf warriors seemed to materialize from nowhere on the other side of the tower. After a moment’s hesitation, Warlord Scratch Eye ordered his forces forward. The Battle was on!

This is a report for a battle between the Wood Elves of Athel Loren and the
vile Skaven raiding party of the Evil Warlord Scratch Eye. My wife who will
hence forth be referred to as Lakait took the role of the Wood Elves while
my son (Known in Skavenblight circles as Ratling the Mad) headed up the
Skaven army. The battle was fought on June 12th 2011 to an agreed point
total of 1000 points. The opponents agreed to the “Blood and Glory
scenario” (Page 148 of the rule book.) Once this was complete terrain was
laid out and the map looked something like this

Here are the armies of each player

SKAVEN (Starting Banner Points 4)

General- “Scratch Eye” – Skaven Clan Chieftain
Warlock Engineer- “Ratling the Mad (No relation)”- Level 2 Caster
Storm Vermin- “The Spartans”- 20 Storm Vermin with Shields + Ratling Gun+ Banner
Clan Rats- “Itchy Eye Clan”- 20 Clan Rats with Shields and Hand weapons + Poison wind Mortar + Banner
Jezzail Team- “Manthing Killers” – 5 Jezzail w/ sharpshooter.
2 Slave units- (Slave units don’t get cool names)- one of normal Skaven Slaves and one of captured lizard man Skinks.
Hell Pit Abomination- “Black Death” – 1 Hell Pit Abomination

Wood Elf (Starting Banner points 5)

General- “” – Wood Elf Highborn (Lord)
Lieutenant-“”-Wood Elf Noble (hero)+ Eternal Kindred
Spell Singer-“”- Wood Elf Spell Singer (Hero)
Eternal Guard-“”- 14 Eternal Guard w/ Wailing Banner
Eternal Guard-“”- 10 Eternal Guard w/ Banner
Glade Guard –“”- 10 Glade Guard w/Banner

The armies were deployed in standard style with each player taking it in turn to place Units. When finished the Map looked like this.

STORM OF MAGIC (FANTASY)

I have decided to enter I would be surprised to get my stuff on the site but stranger things have happened.

Here is what I wrote

Good Evening,

Thanks for creating this opportunity. I am submitting 2 entries so keep reading.

First up...

The Dwarf Giant Slayer - A giant who's entire family has been killed by evil Dwarf Slayers and who has now taken up the Slayer oath himself

The Build- This is the Standard Giant kit but with a few minor add ins. The Mohawk and pony tail were made from Green stuff. You may also notice the prisoner in the cage as the tied up slayer from the old Skull pass box set.

Painting- Flesh was done with Dwarf flesh with a paint wash of 50/50 tanned Flesh/Dwarf Flesh (Pre-Wash era) for shade and 50/50 Dwarf flesh/Elf Flesh for highlights. Cloth- various browns and grays to bring out the patchwork look. Ribbon was done in Blues (Ultra marine and Enchanted) to contrast the browns and grey. Scales and Shields were done in Greens and reds for variety.

Battle Plan- This Giant tends to work with my Orc and Goblin Army although it sometimes get used with Chaos Warriors and Beast-men. (Any chance he can get to kill Dwarfs!!!) This Guys strategy is pretty simple Charge forward and engage the enemy as soon as possible. The idea is to lock up before he gets shot to death.

Highlights- My favorite thing about this model are people's reaction to seeing it. The Idea of a Giant dressed as a Dwarf Slayer draws a lot of attention (as well as firepower. Grrr)

Next...

The Vampire Wizard- An evil vampire in the Spirit of Nosferatu

The Build- The base of this kit is the Plastic Empire Wizard. The head and left hand are from the Ghoul Sprue. This was an entry in the "design a Wizard" contest GW ran in 2008 or 2009. (the other was the Tau Space Pope- I included a pic of him just for fun)

Painting- The inner robes were done with a Mechrite Red base with Blood Red highlights this was washed with Baal Red wash for shade (put on after the highlight to blend the colors) The outer robe was done with Bestial Brown base and Snakebite leather highlights with a Devlan Mud wash. The Skin was done with Space Wolf Grey base with a white drybrush then washed in Purple wash and Blue Wash. when dry a highlight of Space wolf grey on the edges to bring out the details. The Scythe was done in browns, greens and reds

Battle Plan- Originally this guy was built to represent a Hierophant (Liche Priest) in a Barrow King (Tomb Kings) army (Based on a page of fluff from the old Army book) and he may still fill that roll if I ever find time to finish that project. Till then he fills the roll of a Vampire count. I usually give him The level 3 Upgrade and the Blood Drinker Blade along with the powers: "Lord of the dead". "Master of the black arts", and "Supernatural terror" Making him a truly Nightmarish master of Magic and death.

Highlights- My favorite thing about this model is the way the Ghoul and human wizard parts blend together so well. I was even able to make the human wizards hand look like a Ghoul hand with just a little work with a hobby knife. I also think he captures the spirit of a truly ancient Evil.

The Last week...

Hello All,

The RGH here with a Hobby report. My report is as follows.

There is no hobby report.

Instead I have spent the last week in in exile (last weekend) and as part of a local (My kitchen) disaster recovery team.

Last Friday (June 17th) the renovation team working on the apartment above mine cut into the fire sprinkler system and ruptured a pipe causing a torrent of water to flood that apartment then flow through the walls down into mine. about 30 seconds later the pressure change in the fire suppression system caused the alarms to go off. The fire department showed up 20 minutes later. Water was coming in through every seam and corner. it was a constant flow not just a bad drip. You could see it traveling across the ceiling. It was Bad.

Like this but not nearly as cool!

It took the Fire department 45 minutes to find the proper valve to shut off the water. The entire time the alarms continued and my apartment began to float away. :(

The cat went ballistic and scratched the hell out of me when I attempted to get her out of te apartment. She had to be taken to a relatives house to calm down.

When it was over there was around an inch of standing water in my kitchen and a big part of the carpet on the dining room was soaked. Looking up you could see the water trail clearly (Still dripping.)

The Contractors took full responsibility for the incident and offered to make repairs but the Apartment management decided to go with a company that specialized in this sort of disaster. These guys are real pros. They came in the same day and and tore out all of the bad drywall, carpet padding, and ceiling padding. They placed 5 Heavy duty floor/ceiling drying fans in the kitchen and dinning room and a dehumidifier the size of R2-D2 in the kitchen in an attempt to dry the place out fast.

We were told that we could not stay in the apartment for at least 24 hours (We ended up staying away for 48.) We stayed at the relatives house with the Cat. I hardly slept (Damn lumpy couch.) When we could get back in the fans and stuff were still working (Loudly.) We ended up holding up in the back bedroom till everything was fixed (Tuesday) going out only for work and other necessary reasons. By COB Monday the drywall and insulation was back up and the walls and ceiling repainted. By Tuesday the carpet padding was done.Tuesday night we started putting our home back together.

While we were displaced The wife and I worked on Fantasy army lists in Army builder. We put together some crazy stuff that we hope to try out as soon as we get the apartment back to fighting form...

Hello All,

Can you believe it's been a year since post #1? Twelve months and 73 posts
later the RGH is running strong!

Since starting this Blog a lot has happened in the Wargamming world:

We saw the release of Warhammer 8th ed to mixed reviews (I am still not
sure if I really like it or not.) Bye bye guess range hello Uber Magic.

Malifaux hit big with the release of two new books in less than a year
"Rising Powers" and the condensed Malifaux rulebook (pocket size) GOOD
stuff!

(Aged since 1998)

40K brought the Dark Eldar and Grey Knights out of the cupboard and back on
the table with new codices. This is some serious S**t for the Dark Eldar
since their last book goes all the way back to the last millennia. The Grey
Knight inspired me to build a GK army. (more later)

(Now in Hardback)

The first books for 8th ed Fantasy finally came out in early 2011 with the
release of "Orcs and Goblins" Army book in full color hard back followed a
few months later with "Tomb Kings" Army book also in color/ Hardback
format. This looks like the shape of things to come. (Note- I like the
color/hardback format. it is nice but I prefer a soft cover B/W book for
actual use)

Warmachine/Hordes saw the release of a new edition as well as lots of new
stuff including large war machines. Not really sure of the details on this
as I don't play this system. (Yet...)

GW Raised their prices (again) in June of 2011. up to 22% on some stuff.
This is outrageous but no one is twisting your arm to buy so no complaints
here.

Citadel FINECAST Resin started at the end of May 2011 and ushered in a new
era of miniatures- All Plastic all the time.(Resin is plastic) We can all
thank China for this one... :) I like the new direction. The fincast models
are SOOOOOOO much easier to work with than the old metal and the quality is
"right there" if you know what I mean.

I attended the Nova Open in 2010 as an amateur photographer and got lots of really amazing shots of some of the best looking armies I have ever seen. I met the folks from the 11th company and the Gamers lounge along with many others! I am looking forward to Nova 2011 and beyond.

That is just the basics. I will not even go into how the various games have changed play styles (several times) in the last year. It would be too long of a post. And besides I think the guys at BOLS cover that pretty well already.

On the personal side I became a pet owner (Never had one before not even a fish) The cat is great. Best backup alarm I have ever had. :)

So in closing June 2010 to June 2011 was pretty interesting period to be in this hobby. Lots of Win! A fair amount of lose! But in all a great time to be a war gamer.

Hello All,

Just a quick Hobby update to keep everyone in the loop on my current projects.

First off The Grey Knights project

Due to the recent price increases I was forced to drop my original idea of one unit at a time. Instead I have decided to jump straight in with several purchases over the last few weeks.
I have not developed a proper list but I have decided to go Vehicle heavy (A change for me since most of my 40K armies are infantry driven.)

I have managed to complete the Dread Knight in all its Glory... (I love magnets)

The Gray Knight Project 1

Hello All,

I have started work on a Gray Knight Army. I know this may seem like band Wagon jumping but I have my reasons. And they go all the way back to a time long ago when a small squad of Grey Knight Terminators obliterated my entire squad of squats (yes THAT long ago) in my first game ever. I only had the one squad and that had the effect of me going to Fantasy instead. at least for a few years.

I have always had a sense that the GK were totally bad *Censored* and that I would Never collect them because of that traumatic experience so long ago. But times change and so do opinions. These days I think they just look too cool to pass up. So here I am starting a collection of the army that almost made me drop 40K before I ever gave it a chance.

That being said I have decided to take a different approach to building this army. I have decided to Buy, Build, and paint the army one unit at a time. I know this fly's in the face of conventional thinking (in this hobby) but I am looking at it as a test of personal discipline. Can I resist buying a regiment box or several units at one time? I think I can (despite the suggestive selling I get at my FLGS.) Some will never understand and that is OK. I don't expect anyone to.
The final result will be an Army that , when the last miniature is purchased and painted, will complete the army (as apposed to having a bunch of kits in a closet that may never see the light of day but are considered a part of the army anyway.

I have decided to start with the Dread Knight. Here are the pics of what has been done so far...

Recent projects and stuff

Hello all.

The last few weeks have been low on the hobby side and high on the mundane side.
The Missus passed an"in demand" certification last week and most the the previous 2 weeks were spent assisting her studies.

My work schedule has been busy and left me too tired to go out and game on most weeknights. The weekends are spent with the wife; lateley trying to convince her to game more. (More on that later)

I have not been totally lax in my hobby work. Far from it. Most of the time spent helping the wife study were also spent building metal models that I have been putting off (mostly because they are a pain to build.)

On the painting side the output has been slow. I managed to get 10 Grots painted. These guys are from my original 2nd ed boxed set. they are not the best models but I think they paint up pretty good. The Grot handler was painted a few years ago back when he was a warboss!

I also made some progress on my modified (IE Kitbashed) named characters for my Blood Dragons.

In a previous post I showed you my Cato Sicarius conversion. these next two will represent The Shadow Dragon (aka Captain Shrike) and the Iron Dragon (Pedro Kantor)

NOVA OPEN- This just in...

The Wife will not only allow me to do the nova open this year but she intends to participate in the Fantasy GT herself (She will be unmasking a new Army to use at the tournament)

All of this is dependent on the the Fantasy stuff coming together... I have had a bear of a time trying to get more information about this one. we are only a few months out and no word on Fantasy yet... This is getting worrisome.

The latest issue of Skavenblight Gazette is out now!

It was while looking at these guys (Back around issue 3) that I discovered Podhammer the first Warhammer podcast I ever listened to. From there it expanded to 40K Radio, Worlds end Radio, Eternal Warriors (as DLT), The 11 th Company and through them the Gamers lounge. As well as a host of others over the last few years.

So without finding the Skavenblight Gazette my podcast experience might have been vastly different...

So anyway back to the focus of this post.

The Order of the Dragon's Blood?

Hello,

I am looking for a new name for my Space Marine Chapter. Formerly it was called the Emperor's Dragons but I have already found 2 other people who also have chapters called the same. Both have done theirs in Black as the base color where I went with red. I have decided to give my Chapter a new name. I am currently working with The Order of the Dragon's Blood or simply Blood Dragons. Please comment on what you think about the new name. If you have any legitimate suggestions please put them in comments as well. :) (I was also thinking about "Fire Dragons" but I think that may already be in use)

I have been working on finishing up the Tac squads for the BD.

KATO SIKARIUS

I have decided to try Cato Sicarius in my army. I bought the model and after a close examination I discovered that he is covered in Ultra Marine symbols. This was not going to work. Something had to be done. so out came the hobby tools and after a lot of work most of the Omegas were gone.

Cato's Backpack was right out! It is covered in symbols. I went with a Space wolf backpack (The one with the wolf head tied to the back.) I added some horns to it making it look more like a Dragon's skull. I think it came out pretty good.

I went for my standard Red Paint scheme instead of the Gold armor I normally use for leader types. The cloak is done more like my my space wolves rather than my normal dragon colors. it makes a nice contrast.

The Gold was done with Tin Bitz, Shining Gold with Dwarf Bronze highlights.
Leather was done with Dark Flesh, Verman Brown and Snakebite leather.
Red is too dificult to describe here. ;)

Hello all,

The last few days have been interesting at the house of the RGH. The wife and I decided to get a cat. She is pretty cool. I can't belive my wife talked me into getting another Titan!

After talking to Mrs. GH It was decided that I should get the spare room for my Hobby stuff. This was no mean feat. She was using it for a home office for work and for her artistic outlet Writing. (I am trying to convince her to write a series of short stories on this Blog. No luck so far)
Instead she decided to turn the living room into her office. The dining room (my old hobby room is now the TV room.

This last weekend was spent making it a reality. We moved furniture and my hobby stuff around for over 10 hours on Saturday and spent Sunday getting ready to bring the cat home.

Cat really likes the new Digs.

Needless to say my hobby work has been put on hold. When I get back into it I plan the following projects

Wargames Update 2/21/2011

Hello All!

Sorry for such a long delay. Real life has a nasty habit of Kicking you when your down and my life is no exception. 2011 is gearing up to be a challenge in both gaming, Hobby and that other stuff that I do between them.

All is not hardship though...

I have managed to paint over 100 miniatures since January 1st. Most of these are of the Micro scale and Starship scale variety. I did get a Rhino painted for my SM army but I don't have a pic for it yet.

Last Saturday I got a Chance to play a large Warhammer Fantasy game (3K points a side) Ogre Kingdoms & Empire (1500 each) vs. Skaven: We played at the secret hideout of the "Warboss"

The game only went a few turns with the OK and Empire on top. It really could have gone ether way if the game had continued.

None of that really mattered... The best part of the day was the hanging around with the gang and getting a chance to see the new hideout. It didn't hurt that I also got to eat one of the BEST lasagna dinners I have ever had!

Hi all,

I just got back from my local GW store.

I was able to see a fully assembled and basecoated Stormraven.

It is smaller than I thought it would be. It looks ok but still kind of goldfish like. :)

Funny thing- the model was painted in shades of gray.

The store got it in 2 days ago and they have already put it together.

I just thought folks would like to hear about it.

Wolf Lord on Thunder wolf

Hello all

I am writing to show off my latest 40K work. Wolf Lord Steinbjorn inn Fenruni and his Thunderwolf Hopp.

The models and materials include a Reaper Dire Wolf , Parts from the newest gray hunter sprues, the legs from a Space Marine biker, a 60 MM base, and cork board.

Part 1 The Model:
After cleaning all of the parts with warm soap and water I started by taking the biker legs and cutting them in half right up the crotch *shutter* then using green stuff; positioned them on the wolf''s back. After this I set it aside and using the rest of the green stuff I sculpted a saddled and straps on the wolf. before it set I attached the legs to the wolf.

I let the model cure overnight. The Next day I went through the Space Wolf bits I have and selected some of the more flashy pieces. I noticed that the place where the body met the wolf that it looked like crap. I decided to do what I have seen done on Cav models many times. I added more saddle to the front and back similar to to many fantasy war horse setups.
I then attached all the selected bits to the model.

Part 2 The Base:

The Base is a standard GW 60MM round base. Using cork board from a local Staples office supply store I made the core of the rock that Steinbjorn and Hopp will stand on. To make the rock I simply shaped the cork in a rough natural shape and added a second level on top. I find that Aleens Tacky Glue works great for this.

Next I attached The model to the base. I used 2 long "pins" to fasten the figure securely through the cork and base. I then added a drop of super glue on the underside to lock the pins in place.

Part 3 flocking:

I used Elmer's glue to flock sand and stones of many different sizes (I picked up the sand from Colonial Beach Virginia) I like the many different sizes and textures of natural sand for larger models.

Part 4 The Painted Model:

Once all of this was dry I based the model in black them painted it in my Space wolf paint scheme. At some point I intend to do a painting tutorial but that is for a different time.

I was able to make to this past Thursday's BFG night. I debuted my new Chaos fleet. I have 4 cruisers and 3 escorts. I did pretty good. I managed to table an Eldar fleet complete with a battleship. This was a lot of fun. I am really getting into the game.

The last 8 days...

The Last 8 days have been interesting (in that WTF sort of way) so if the post rambles please forgive me.

I will not go into the details of the more personal (Real life) issues. I will merely state that there have been some setbacks in the house of the RGH.

On the other hand I am more than willing to talk about the game related disappointments from the last few days.

Lets start with last Thursday night. - My local GW store runs a specialist game night every Thursday from 6pm to close. This month it's Battlefield Gothic. This is a game I have never played but have been interested in for some time. To prepare for thismonth long event I went out and purchased 7 ships from the chaos Fleet.

1 Grand Cruiser
1 Heavy Cruiser
2 Cruisers
3 Escorts

All are fully painted and ready to go... or so I thought.

just 15 minutes before I was planning to leave the Misses asked me to help drive her Mother home. The poor girl (the wife) had been up since 4:30 that morning picking her mother up for a doctor's appointment later in the day. She looked wiped out. How could I state "No I'm going to play with my toy rocket ships" I didn't need the Manslator to figure out what I needed to say...

"Of course I will help out... let me get my coat"

So I missed the game and spent the evening sitting in traffic and earning brownie points. :)

The next and perhaps most tragic event was my trip to the Woodbridge Game Parlor. Last month I got a 20% discount postcard from the parlor. This was great! 20% off of total purchase. The post also said that they were located in a new store at the same shopping center. This was a suspicious statement in that it could mean a larger better place or a smaller cramped store.
Unfortunately the latter proved to be true.

The new store is less than half the size of the old location with the same amount of stock. The isles are so narrow that I felt like I needed to turn sideways to walk down them. The place seems crowded and choked. Don't get me started on the open gaming space ("Open" being used loosely!) Even the employees looked tired of apologizing for the new digs. I was pretty mopey by the end of my shopping trip (it did not stop me from getting full use of the the 20% discount) I am not sure of the reason for the down size but I expect the economy has something to do with it.

I hope that this is merely a temporary setback and that the GP will move into a proper store in the future. The problem is that every time I have seen this happen in the past (Twice now) the store went under within a year. I don't want to see this happen the the Game Parlor. :(

Happy New year and all that stuff. I hope everyone had a good one. I did. :)
I got a chance to play some WFB on Friday night. Good Game! 1000 points of my son's Skaven (The Skaven Project) vs. 1000 beast Army played by me. The game lasted 6 turns and in the end only three units remained on the board. 1 unit of Clan rats (19 of 20) My Tuskor Chariot and my level 4 Bray Shaman (with only 1 wound remaining.) By the 8th ed rules for calculating VP it was a draw. unfortunately I did not think to grab the camera for this event so it will live on only in our memories...

I managed to catch a double feature on Saturday. "The King's speech" and "Tron Legacy"
I thought both were really good for completely different reasons. The king's speech was one of the best Drama's I have seen in a while. I don't really care for Drama's so that should say quite a bit right there. As for Tron the movie is action packed and I am a huge fanboy of the late 70's early 80's Disney Sci-Fi films like the original Tron and the Black hole. I enjoyed both!

Well... I am happy to announce that at 11:50 EST on December 31st I completed the "Army in 30 days" challenge.

The Daemon army is painted and ready for play!

December Projects- Long Winded version

Hello All!!!

I have two projects I have been working on since December 1.

Project 1:

The Wife has informed me that the Skaven project is not over. That’s real nice since it’s almost the end of the year and I already announced that the army was done. She stated (in my local GW store no less) that the Island of Blood set does count towards my son's army on the grounds that I am not allowed to own a Skaven (or Wood Elf or Dark Elf) army under any circumstances.* She was kidding but it made my competitive side take notice.

So There I was with less than 30 days till new years and the entire Island of Blood Skaven set needing to be painted. I decided that it CAN be done. There are 47 Skaven models in the box set:

20 Clan Rats with shields and hand weapons
20 Clan Rats with shields and spears
2 Rat Ogres
1 Pack master (for the Rat Ogres)
2 Weapon teams (Warp fire thrower and Poison wind Mortar)
1 Warplock Engineer
1 Warlord

As of 12/20 32 of the 47 are done.

The other project I am working on is a Daemon army for 40K- That’s right I said a Daemon army. Those of you that know me understand that I don't care for the Daemon army in WH Fantasy because of the stigma attached to them. (For those that don't know: They were WAY over powered in 7th ed) I also didn't really like many of the models. I have never seen a Pink or Blue horror that didn't look stupid. Flamers are even worse. Most of the others are OK.

In the old days when you could freely mix Daemons with warriors of Chaos I used some Furies as march blockers; (The good old days.) It never occurred to make a Daemon 40K army but then late last month it hit me... Why not! (It didn't hurt that I have acquired tons of the stuff over the years)

I decided that the project will have to be different than any other I have done in the past.

The rules:

I must build an army list before I start (2000- 2500 points) - Only build what is in the list
As much as possible use what I already have- Keep costs low and use stuff that has been sitting around for ages.
Use alternate models for units I don't like- must also be in my collection if possible.
Must use recognized 3 color minimum (or Better) for each unit.
Army must be complete and ready for play by the end of New Year’s weekend. January-3-2011

Notes so far:

Rule 1: The army lists and several variants are complete. They range from 2K- 2.5K as required.

HQ:
2 Greater Daemons (Nurgle and slaanesh at this point but I also have Khorne and Tzeentch)
Troops:
12 Bloodletters- Standard
11 Plaguebearers (using Skaven Plague Monks- They look great)
5 bases of Nurglings (using a mix of Skaven Rats and actual Nurglings)
10 Daemonettes- Standard
15 Pink and Blue Horrors (using Wood Elf Dryads- New Models)
Elite:
3 Beasts of Nurgle (2 Old school Models from my Bitz collection and a D&D Carrion Crawlwer repainted to fit in)
3 Fiends of Slaanesh (3 Abyssal Ravagers from the old "Chainmail" game)
Fast Attack:
10 Flesh Hounds of Khorne (Made from dire wolves- The ripped flesh versions)
3 Screamers of Tzeentch (Made from 3 very old discs of Tzeentch with wood elf bits attached)
5 Furies of Chaos (Made from old Harpies- The really ugly ones- I did not find out they were Harpies until a few years ago.)
Heavy Support:
2 Daemon Princes (1 is Belakor from the Fantasy line the other is Gúlavhar - the terror of Arnor from LOTR)

Rule 2: So far so good on this one. The only thing I had to buy was a box of Dryads ( the Wife would not let me have her extra ones) and the Codex. Everything
else has been in house.

Rule 3: As listed above I used models from the D&D line (the prepainted plastic ones) and Chainmail (The older- and better- metal D&D line) I also used several
models from the Fantasy and one LOTR model for this project.

Rule 4: The only models that are even close to the 3 color minimum are the Pink and Blue Horrors. That is just because I think the simple color scheeme
makes them really stand out.

Rule 5: Am I on track? So fare the following models are done as of 12/20.

Grail Knight

I have recently finished a model for the joint Bretonnian army my misses and I have been building for the last 3 1/2 years.

This is an old school (5th ed) Grail Knight. We intend to use him as a hero level character to place in the main unit of Grail Knights.

Next up I have an article I wrote for The round table of Bretonnia
(This may be the best Warhammer Fantasy website I have been a member of.)

******NOTE: This guy was built for 7 th ed. (He needs to be updated for 8th but I think it should still be fun to use) - This is for Entertainment value only!

The Black Knight

This is a more comic approach to the mythical Black knight. It is loosely based on the infamous, 'None shall pass,' Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. As such it should only be used in light hearted games and of course only with the permission of your opponent. After watching the movie for the umpteenth time I have decided on three basic characteristics of the black knight:

First: The Black knight is practically unstoppable.

Second: He is impervious to pain and will fight on even after receiving wounds that would slay a lesser man.
Third: He seems to have an unlimited supply of weapons at his disposal.

All this together means that he is one tough cookie (unless you are King Arthur.) Something about what I described seemed familiar. Then it hit me. These are the same characteristics of Black Orcs! So that is where I started... Here are the similarities:

The Black knight is practically unstoppable -Black Orc's have a high Toughness score that makes them very hard to stop.

The Black knight is impervious to pain and will fight on even after receiving wounds that would slay a lesser man - to some degree this true of all Orcs, but Black Orc's are the ultimate example of this ideal. If you cut a black Orc's arm off he will most likely pick it up and beat you to death with it.

The Black Knight seems to have an unlimited supply of weapons at his disposal -The Black Orc's special ability "Armed to da Teef" pretty much covers this.

So you see similarities can be drawn. With that I give you The BLACK KNIGHT!!!

The Black Knight is a hero and as such is paid for from HERO allocation points . He must be fielded as shown below and cannot take any extra gear. He cannot be the Army General. He cannot join a unit.

Points: 200 (feedback on this is requested)

M: 4 WS: 6 BS: 3 S: 4 T: 5 W: 1 *Special I: 6 A: 3 L: 10

Mount: None

Equipment: Heavy armor, see below

Virtues: Virtue of Empathy (Always fielded on foot)

Abilities: Armed to the teeth (Variant), none shall Pass, *(Special) Unstoppable, One on One

Armed to the teeth (Variant): The Black Knight is considered to be armed with any/all of the following combinations: hand weapon and Shield, Great Weapon, Flail, or two hand weapons. He may choose a new combination or keep the current weapon(s) in any round he wins a combat. If he loses a round of combat he must stay with the current configuration. This is modified by the 'Unstoppable' rule below.

None shall pass: The Black Knight is a guardian. He must have something to guard. Having the black Knight in your army allows you to generate one extra piece of terrain. This must be something with an entrance or a way to cross. Examples include but are not limited to Bridges, Buildings, Gatehouses, and narrow passages. The piece of terrain needs to be deployed on your half of the board but does not have to be within the normal deployment zone. The Black Knight must stay within 12' of this feature. He can pursue a fleeing enemy but Stops at 12' out.

Unstoppable: 'The Black Knight is Invinciblebleble.' The Black Knight is a force of nature. He is unbreakable. In addition the Black knight will continue to fight even after his wounds are gone. While the Black Knight has one wound he fights normally (at least for him.) When the wound is taken the Black Knight looses the ability to use the great sword or two weapons. He also looses the use of his shield. This is because he has lost an arm (Even if he denies it.) The next wound will eliminate the use of the flail along with the other arm. The Black Knight is forced to kick opponents (Counts as a hand weapon for the sake of simplicity.) On the third wounding the knight's leg is removed and his movement is reduced to 1; for now he must hop. At this stage the Black Knight cannot attack and counts as having a weapon skill of 1. He will keep his opponent locked in combat until he is hit one more time. At this point the Black Knight will declare the fight a draw and can be removed from the table. But not before threatening his opponent one more time. The Opponent must make an unmodified Leadership test or stay for one more round to finish the Black Knight off. If this happens the Black Knight has a weapon skill of 0 and cannot fight back. He is slain if a hit is scored. Regardless the opponent can leave freely after this and the model is removed.

One on One: The Black Knight is the master of the dual. The following rules apply to combats with the Black Knight.

Missile combat: the Black Knight is only affected by missile fire done as a charge reaction. Regular missile combat has no effect on the Black Knight.

Magic Phase: The Black Knight is immune to most magic. Only combat magic that can (And must) be used in hand to will work on the Black Knight.

Hand to Hand: The Black Knight MUST accept any challenge. In addition The black Knight is ALWAYS lined up against the most powerful character in a unit he is fighting and the combat is resolved between the two opponents no one else my enter this combat. This includes Mounts. If the Black knight wins and the enemy does not break then he is moved to the next most powerful opponent and the fight continues as above. This continues until all characters and champions are defeated or 4 turns occurs.

The Main use of the Black Knight is to lock enemy characters and units up for the duration of a battle.

Just wanted to give a quick update on a project I showed you back in June.

Well... after a quick trip to Ork Scheib ("I'll paint any Wagon for just 99 teef") here is the new and finally completed WARTRACK!!!

Check out the removable Kannon. It can be used as open topped or closed with the Kannon on top. I think it came out Great. Let me know what you think!!!

Hobby Update

Hello all,

I have a few things to show off today.
So I will get right to them.

First off: Finally finished and ready for your enjoyment The Warhound!!!

This guy was fun to paint but the prep work was a real chore. I have decided to call him "The old wolf of Fenrus" With idea that it is gift (long term loan) from a forge world that the Space wolves saved long ago. It is a legionary monster in the myths of the primitives who live on Fenrus. Actually its the titan being taken on maneuvers every few years. :)

Next up is a Skaven update. The Skaven project is drawing to a close and these are the last of the official project. I will try to get the Island of Blood Skaven done by years end but it's just "gravy" at this point.

Clan SPARTA

Hello,

I have completed the last unit of Clanrats of the original Skaven army (less the island of Blood set)
That take it to over 100 Clanrats fully painted. + all the other stuff in the army. I will post the complete army as soon as I can gets some shots of it.

The last unit of Clan Spear-rats deserves special mention. In a battle fought long ago this unit held against a charge of Ugla Khan's Wolf Riders to the front and Vesparo's Vendetta in the flank. The Skaven general managed to get insane courage after losing enough troops to need a 3 to pass. Then the next turn, in an event that boggles my mind to this day, the depleted unit of ratlings managed to WIN the combat while the RGH rolled a massive double 6 and fled only to have the Skaven run the wolf riders down and destroy them!

It was decided that they should get a special paint job for their awesomeness. I decided to base them (loosely) on the Spartans as depicted in the movie 300. Notice the non skaven like banner and the general aggressive positioning of the models and I think you will agree that it was a good call.

So without further delay I give you The Rats of Clan SPARTA

Skaven Update

Hello,

I just wanted to take a minute and show off the latest completed project. A while back I showed you the modified Screaming Bell I did for my son's Skaven army.

When the bell was put together we decided to build a unit of Clanrats that were dedicated to the it. We put them together and painted them up to a table top standard. I did the Bell and the Son worked on the Rats. The only thing we did not do was the bases.
Flash forward to about a week ago. I went through the Skaven army to see what still needed painting. When I saw the Bell Crew (as we call them) Still sitting with plain bases I decided to take action.

it took a few days since there were actually 5 Rats that did not get painted on the first go. I also created place holders for 5 Clanrats to bring the unit up to 35 and with the Bell in place they form a Horde 50 in size!

I matched the bases to the rest of the army.

Take a look.

Yesterday I purchased the new Skaven one-off Leader for the Island of Blood.

I will post pictures of him when he is more presentable.

Hello all,

I have been sick since Saturday morning. I got up with a slight twinge in my throat and I knew this three day weekend would suck. I was like a psychic because the next 4 days were pretty rough.

The weekend started out so good too. I took the wife out to dinner and a movie. Dinner at Fridays and "Life as we Know it" for the film. Both were enjoyable. obviously the quiet before the storm.

Saturday was the worst (A sore throat makes me miserable company. Just ask my wife.) I did not feel particularly bad other than my throat but it was enough. The wife took me out to try to make make feel better. we stopped by Huzzah games. (my first time there) I really liked the store and for a few minutes I forgot about my suffering. She bought me a GF9 Tac template and bought herself the Showgirls crew for Malifaux. I saw Bill from the "gamers lounge" and said hello but did not want to get too close since I figured I was coming down with something and did not want to "share the love." They were playing Malifaux and I was a little down because I could not stay to watch and learn. I plan to return soon. (The Wife is reading the Malifaux book and thinks the Tuesday night games might be a good idea.)

The rest of the day just got worse. By Sunday afternoon the sore throat was gone and I thought I was past the worst of it...
I was wrong. The stuffy nose and fever started Sunday night and continued through Monday into Tuesday. I tried to sleep on Monday night only to find that I was unable to do so. Whats even worse I kept waking the Wife up with my "belly Aching." I ended up spending the entire night watching "Life after people." At 2 AM I sent my job the email for not coming in on Tuesday. I spent Tuesday recouping and catching up on sleep.

Wednesday was my first day back. I am pleased that I got many "welcome backs" and "glad your back" My boss told me I was not allowed to take any more days off ever... I guess I was missed. :)

My "Spirits of Vengeance" crew is really coming along. I finished the Onryo I think they look Smashing.

I painted up a unit of 8 Kazad Guard and a Dwarf Standard Bearer.

I also painted Buhrdur The Troll lord from the Angmar Army!

Anyway not bad for a few sick days!!!

Necromunda Battle Report (Test)

Here it is ...

My first attempt at a video battle report.

It is a little rough and I need to learn my software a little better but I think it has promise.

BTW: The report ends in the middle of turn 2. (The Battery died)

The game only lasted until mid turn 3 when The Orlocks bottled out leaving the Goliath's Victorious!!!!

I want commentary on this one and any advice would be welcome.

I already know the sound changes from the first segment to the second :)

Part 3 Scenery

I have been working on several Scenery projects for Necromunda for a while now. The Series is an excellent excuse to finish them.

I have 3 basic setups in mind.

The waste lands- Mostly craters and rocks/Rubble

The Factory- The original Necromunda card buildings + a few extras I have that fit the theme.

The Abandoned dome- Ruined buildings and debris

Here are a few Updates!!!

The Necromunda Thursdays is a go! We get the tables on Thursday nights at the FairOaks Games workshop. I have not been able to get into contact with the fellow that started the idea. but I intend to press on. So here we go...

The games will use the standard Gangs: (subject to change)

Cawdor

House Cawdor is the stronghold of the Cult of Redemption. For this reason all of the gangers wear masks in public to hide their faces from the 'infidels' of the other houses. They are known to hunt mutants and heretics to the point of fanaticism (part of the redemptionist influence) which bring them into conflict with gangs who would utilize them.

Delaque

Other hivers are justifiably suspicious of House Delaque, who specialise in spying and assassination. The gangers often wear large trench coats, with large internal pockets for concealing weapons and other large items. Most are bald and extremely pale. Many wear visors, goggles or have light filters implanted into their eyes, a sensitivity to light being a common Delaque weakness. Delaque territory is even more dimly lit than the rest of the hive, fitting for a people who are shrouded in mystery.

Escher

Strikingly different from the other houses, the Escher population is almost entirely made up of women. The few men that are there are shrivelled and imbecilic and play no part in the normal affairs of the Escher. Men are held in contempt and pitied by the Escher, especially those of House Goliath who are seen as simple, brutish and unsophisticated.

Goliath

Size and physical strength are everything in House Goliath. Their territory is situated in some of the harshest areas of the Hive City of Solitude. Their gangers favour mohawks, piercings, thick chains and spiked metal bracers as well as heavy coats that protect them from rain water.

Orlock

Also known as the House of Iron, these hivers mine ferrous slag pits deep in the hive. Orlock gangers often wear sleeveless jackets and headbands. Recent events have brought them into direct opposition with the Delaques, involving the sabotage of Delaque facilities and an assassination of Lord Hagan Orlock.

Van Saar

The Van Saar are known for the extremely high quality of its technical produce. Spear Soldiers, or often referred to as Ga-8 in the Spire will pay handsomely for Van Saar goods, making them the wealthiest of the houses. The Van Saar are marked out by their tight fitting body-gloves which help to sustain them in the harsh hive environment. Older Van Saar are often seen sporting a neatly trimmed beard. The Imperial Punishers often recruit regiments from the Van Saar.

Other Gangs are allowed but must be approved before use these include:

Enforcers, Redemptionists, Pit Slaves*, Ratskin tribes, Scavvies, and Spyre Hunters.

*Must find a copy of the last known rules and bring them to the game

The living rulebook from the GW site will be used -

Hired troops can be used but ONLY those from the living rulebook.
Proxi- models can be used- Must be be consistent WYSIWYG - ie: if a Space Marine trooper armed with a Bolter is said to be armed with an autogun than all Bolters in the gang MUST be autoguns!
The Normal campaign rules are in effect- ie: pick a senario, Play it, do after action rolls with a witness (Must be a person in the campaign, Me, or a store employee)
Must keep the same gang through out the series.
Must have fun!!!

I am providing 3 extra gangs for folks to play as needed. they will also grow as the game progresses.

The Size Chart!! (My Cygor is not as small as it looks)

Hello all,

Last week I brought out the new Cygor for my beast army. It was built from the new Demon Prince and the head of the Chaos Giant. it looks like this.

I took some friendly feedback that it was too small, but I don't really think it is. :)
He looks short because I put him on a mound. This was because the Demon Prince kit is a Little too short for me. In all it adds to the look and make him on par with other Large Based Monsters.

Here he is compared to a high elf.

He seems beefy enough to me.

I understand where the guys were coming from. the current concept is "bigger is better!"
Hell Pit Abominations, All the new beast monster variations, Hydras, and Dragons; most armies seems to have a large monster of some sort in it. Everyone I see is bigger and more impressive than the last. I decided to scale it back to more traditional sizing. I wanted it to fit on a proper 50X50 base. I also felt that if I used the WH Giant as was suggested to me it would take away from the awesomeness of that creature. In my opinion a "Giant" should be the largest humanoid model on the board.

I did a scale photo to show different models standing together just for comparison. All of the models are GW except the smaller of the two giants.

He is a Reaper and is about the same size as the old metal GW Giant.

Her is the Pic...

As you can see the Cygor is about the same size as the old Giant and if you count the spines he is at the shoulder of the current Giant. Not to bad...

Skaven Project part 9

Hello everyone,

It has been a little while since I have had an update on the Skaven Project. Well, I have two things to show. The first is the compleated additions to my son's Screaming Bell. We have the old model and I am too cheap to run out and buy a new one. Instead I decided to increase the base size to match the current model. since the old model has a foot print of roughly 40X60 mm I had plenty of extra space to work with so I added a Rat Ogre to pull the bell and defend it then I added a Regiment base and an extra 20X20mm base to finish it out. Several rocks and some extras later I have this........

The second thing to show is the completed Thanquel and Boneripper. Now that they have been mat varnished to remove the shine I think they look like a great addition this army.

A short Update.

Hello all,

This has been a poor week in gaming since my last post.
Number of games attempted= 1
Number of games played= 0

But no worries. I had a great time hanging around the GW store last Friday night. I met a few new people (always good), talked a lot of painting (one of my favorite subjects), And got to tell some of my favorite funny stories (usually involving "DA" moments from the past.)

Note: One interesting thing I did see was a kid wearing a pair of those shoe/roller skate hybrids. I used to see them all the time but the last few years they seemed to be on the decline. When you see kids skating around on these things have you ever wanted to just stick you foot out and give natural selection a hand? I commented about this at the shop and was surprised to find that the same thought was on most of our minds as the child scooted by for the 3rd time in 10 minutes. Interesting...

On the Friday before the NOVA open I picked up a copy of Malifaux from Victory comics in Falls Church. I have been reading it and think I have a handle on the rules. I don't have any of the miniatures nor a Fate deck yet. I Like the Guild and Outcasts so far but I think each faction is really cool.

I am hoping I can get my wife to play and rekindle her enjoyment of tabletop war-games. I want to avoid her becoming "Mundane" at any cost.

To anyone reading this who also plays Malifaux any advice would be appreciated.

Painting

This weeks painting project- Land Raider.

I am finally painting my Land raider Redeemer

I finished the Dwarf "Goblin Hewer" and plan to run it as a grudge thrower.

I assembled the rest of my Chaos Warriors/Knights last week and used them to bulk up my already established units.
I now have 5 units of 20 warriors not counting "Chosen"

I have 4 units of 10 Knights including 1 with lances.

Well that's enough for now. I hope to get a game in this Friday but if not I know the conversation will be worth the trip.
